Swing

Swing Dancing:
The term "swing" refers to a variety of unique partner dances.

West Coast Swing:
A slotted dance in which the follower travels back and forth along a rectangle, or slot.

East Coast Swing:
Seen often on club or tavern dance floors, this dance was influenced by the Foxtrot.

Lindy Hop:
Perhaps the most popular swing dance, this dance originated in Harlem.
Similar to east coast swing in rhythm and shapes, but characterized by slotted traveling passes,
turns, swivels, and counter balance. Swing outs are the "basic" of the lindy hop.

This wonderful class will teach you the beginning steps of Swing Dancing.
Let me break it down to the very
basics of these fun and energetic dances. No experience or partner necessary ~absolute beginners are
always welcome! Come get your feet wet so you can have some fun on the dance floor!

This series is an overview of basic frame and posture, and moves such as starter steps, side passes, and
underarm turns you will use to dance to many of your favorite songs! Try this class if you want to learn a
smooth dance to groove to classic Motown hits, modern hip-hop, R&B and more! I will give you the tools to get you dancing comfortably and confidently on the social floor.

Class material cycles every 4 weeks but you can drop-in any week to learn new moves.
